Strap in for a caramel oxy apple adventure. The spice is muted but the funk and musk have taken over in an aggressive way. You build those aged beer calluses and leverage those experiences. This is still a tasty beer, despite the age, you get a fun old record store aspect with some dust and apples.

There is no replacement for age and these beer cascade gracefully into either shallow warm pools or jagged diacetyl rocks. This is th former.

A bourbon and red wine barrel aged Belgian dark ale? TALK ABOUT A CROWDED GENRE. So I was wondering if this would be a de facto barleywine, or end up being a riff on some Still Nachte riserva, anxiously waiting for a track to explode on.

The nose is slightly port sherry, red wine tannins akin to a Pinot noir, slight jammy blackberry and the slightest caramel bourbon wafts. It is decidedly more red wine than bourbon, but the estery base beer serves the grape profile better anyway.

The taste is sweet and exhibits a slightly dry oaky finish, there’s a preserve and jelly boysenberry aspect that melds pretty well with the toasted caramel and pumpernickel bready aspects. It leans almost closer to a Belgian Barleywine and serves as a aeolian riff on a familiar malty scale you’ve ran your finger across many times before, with some jazzy minors.

Should you seek it out? I honestly don’t see this getting crushed out of the park on trade values and it’s a novel take that you likely haven’t tried a zillion times before. I dig it, a solid Goosey offering from those boys in the murder capital where they murder for capital.

It’s not as complex as the EC21, but it doesn’t really need to be, just light heat and some peanut brittle and the shit is over. Pretty legit for the money but I would still reach for Angels Envy Rye, a totally different spirit but

After the excessively acidic romp with Intangible, I was suspect of this Berliner offering, praying the ph gods would take mercy on my gentle baby palate. No need to worry here, this is not only incredibly balanced, but it is also crushable and intensely tasty.

It exhibits a mineral wets lightly brackish aspect that segues into a lemon grassy and Wheaty grist that has a touch of that milky creaminess and closes with a hard ass water profile, streaking the teeth with fresh ass alkalines. Again, a 750ml is almost insulting because you will like this down like sheet rock and if they sold this in cans it would be akin to violating federal laws by printing currency.

It straddles just below the Southampton uberliner and a touch more substantial than something like Deaf Stewart. In other words, it is in good company and well suited to serve as an awesome flagship beer for this stelae brewery.

Tickers will not stfu about this beer and Carton 0077xxxwwxwxw. Nowadays if you put a dipa in a can you are the FUKN man in the streets like you just stood tall on a 5 year bid. Invariably a dipa in a can solicits off base Heady comparisons and, while this is leagues away from heady, I can see this servicing the Va boys nicely beside some inland bodies of water, muggy chewy air and protozoan bugs filling the atmosphere beside the recreational river beds.

But how does it taste? It is a touch vegetal at the outset and doesn’t lead with an ultra citrus front but it sublimates into this sticky grassy fresh cut lawn aspect that faded to a piney adventure. It isn’t overly malty but fails to really stand out in any aspect beyond being a clean, well integrated dipa on the easy coast swagger from the late 2000s. People who loves through those Double Trouble days understand my feels.

This kriek is hefty and sticky but imparts a great jammy smuckers meets fruit by the foot. The funk is there but overwhelmed by the juice and cherry in the forefront . It is akin to a massive LP Kriek with a newer sticker and serve up hot 16s in the streets for uninitiated tickers.

Juicing so hard on that gear.

It’s easy to understand how these barrels work so well with imperial stouts, the fragrant spicy notes and the touch of sweetness lends both approachability and complexity to this gentle and nuanced bourbon.

This is admittedly a tasty and entirely refreshing blast of lemonade for hot dog on a stick randalled through a stack of Jack Kirby x men comics. Light musk and a faint Brett L action pulling double duty for a Natalie Portman thin body. There’s a great finish akin to merengue that falls off quickly and you get blue BALs of the palate and wanna get your mouth on it again.
