Fantome Strange Ghost, if you need a sexually deviant phantasm that is getting more sour and funky in prison.

20140701-195836-71916060.jpg

I heard nothing but waves or horror stories about this eccentric ass boo and never went full Tomer for it. This is at least a 2010 given the label, and it is as strange as ever. The herbs and dark malts have been pulled back and it has now aligned itself to the saison base tome that rocks Granny Smith apples, dry Brett B, musky dog bed, frothy substantial mouthfeel that coats like foamy cornbread and closes with a tart acidity .

Truth be told, pretty legit. With enough age all tomes hit this ethereal reality that only the most birch made can disaffirm.

Get an old one and start flexing on Stakem.

@thebruery Portugese brandy barrel sucre, hitting that coveted Nana meets rare ticker demographic

20140701-194714-71234761.jpg

Oh shit one single bottle per $700 hoarders membership? Simmering whalesauce pot on full balsamic reduction.

This is intensely oaky, ratcheted back sweetness in favor of a bruised peach and caramelized raisin profile that closes thinner than most of the other deviants.

I enjoyed this more than an average sucre deviant but less than Cognac. Is it worth the premium? Maybe if you have a raging alerection for all things brandy, love obscure old ale treatments or wanted to be on a serious mossberg swerve. It tastes very much like straight up brandy, except because it feels lazier and like it can dominate nautical trade for a couple of centuries and then fade into obscurity. You know them porty feels.

Seek it out but there are easier to obtain variants that won’t command such crazy swaps.

Alesmith brewing co, old numbskull brandy barrel edition got my barleybones a throbbing

20140630-223736-81456447.jpg

Oh shit sweet Nana alert, them brandies be bangin harder than moesha. Not that the bourbon wasn’t dank and the rye even better, but this goes ultra HAM sandwich and smoothed out what tiny grooves were previously perceptible. If on the bourbon edition you didn’t like the herbal pralines and oak from faded hops, this candy coated fists you with a gentle caramel apple. If the rye was too prickly and you wanted a gentle smoothe texture, this is an R. Kelly discography of sticky toffee and malty brittle.

If Alesmith sends this to the Midwest like they did their other offerings: someone is getting pregnant. Or someone is going on disability. That 11% is LOl worthy and hits hard like an rx7 rotary engine full of toasted brown sugar and a liquid Patton monologue of power.

I don’t need to tell you to seek this out, I can already see a FT: old stock or some dumb shit coming down the pipes.

You can have a world class beer or you can have a Pringles horizontal. The choice is yours.

Tahoe Mountain recolte du bois saison deviants.

20140629-155846-57526694.jpg

The base beer is pretty good and exhibits a crisp highly attenuated profile not unlike Surette, some honey sweetness, oak, ginger, lemon, and slight musk like a carpet sample book holding hands with a lingering acidity.

The apricot is less complex but more dredging and drinks in the same vein as a jankier fou but in the best way possible. Stone fruits, tannic dryness, still maintains some esters but largely an low ph adventure kinda similar to JK Aurelian.

20140629-160144-57704465.jpg

In a goldilocks twist, the peach is the JUUUUST right deviant with the acidity of the apricot and the sweetness and drinkability of the base beer. These are very good and I have heard almost nothing about these under the radar offerings, maybe they are hard to lock down, I have no clue. ISO thems. No homer.

Midnight Sun Barfly BATCH TWO OH SHIT. This time bourbon treatment instead of red wine

20140629-155124-57084463.jpg

This beer is very similar to the b1 except the off putting red wine tannic aspect that previously clashed with smokey profile has now been subbed out for a toasty bourbon treat that makes b2 a superior beer as a result, albeit less “original” in execution. The Subaru Baja is “original” but that doesn’t mean vaginas don’t smatter closed when you pull up in a car that looks like a shoe.

You can go read my original review of Barfly or you can suck these pangolin tits. Choice is yours

50/50 Vanilla Eclipse, BCBVS look at this be like “damn homie that’s what I usta be”

20140629-154446-56686447.jpg

I honestly wasn’t expecting this cold stone creamery explosion of vanilla and sticky cake batter but holy hell this is incredible. I find most of the blends and treatments of this beer to be derivative or forgettable but this stands on it’s own as a vanilla masterpiece and I can’t stop flicking the bean. In lieu of ham fisted saccharine or a one dimensional adjunct extravaganza, this is the whole package of sweetness meets roast meets a barrel profile that is seamlessly integrated into the brownie batter finish.

Seriously phenomenal. I made a coovee of this with bcbs and the end result was superior to bcbvs, color me unsurprised in a shade of no fuck.
